Solver properties

You can view or edit the solver set up for your simulations in the Solver properties tab of the Chart controls window.

Stop

Click on this button to stop a simulation. Clicking on the run button again will cause the next run to re-start at time = 0.

Run

Click on this button to start or re-start a simulation.

When you start running a simulation from time=0, the status bar will indicate ‘Initializing’ followed by ‘Integrating’.  If you have set up your data headers correctly in Excel you will see that the predicted curves are the same color as the experimental data.

The units of variables in the plot will be the latest units you have selected for each series.  Units for Scenario sheet parameters will be taken from the Set Parameters window.

You can also run by pressing keyboard shortcut F6 or using right-mouse-click in a blank area of the Simulator screen.

Continue

Click on this button to extend the simulation time by 50%. To extend a run by a different factor, click on the down arrow next to the continue button and select from the list (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% or other).

To set a user-defined end time select ‘other’ from the dropdown list and edit the highlighted cell.

View the results of two runs

Click on this button in the chart toolbar to use the ghostlines function.  On re-running the model with modified parameters the results of the previous run will be shown as dotted lines.

Stretch

Click on this button to ‘stretch’ imposed profiles and re-run. A typical application is to stretch imposed flowrate and/or Qr profiles for dosing-controlled reactions.  This function allows you to easily change (stretch or squeeze) addition rate &/or rate of heat release whilst maintaining the overall volume added or total heat released.

The default stretch factor is 1.1.  For other stretch factors, click on the down arrow next to the icon and select from the list (0.5, 0.75, 0.9, 1.1, 1.33, 2 or other).

To set a user-defined stretch factor, select ‘other’ from the dropdown list and edit the highlighted cell.
